PUBLICATIONS

........ Members of the AXIS MUNDI have published a number of books covering a wide range of topics, some of which are particularly relevant to problems and pathologies encountered in Employee Assistance Programmes.

Who am I ? When there is a will, there is a way? How do you defend yourself? Why if I think somebody is an idiot, he is likelier to become one? How to handle problem personalities? Why isn't everybody as intelligent as me? What makes you tick? Are you happy ? etc. Here are some questions that point towards central theories in psychology.
Psychology and management are intimately connected: management theories always reflect an underlying view on human nature whilst the field of psychology is filled with teachings and clues about life at work. From central experiences of clinical, social and work psychology, this book presents concepts and tools aiming to enlighten and enrich management practices as well as one's personal and professional development.

Coaching

This book proposes a review of the many theoretical and practical features of executive coaching.

The phenomenon of coaching has been significantly growing in France since the 90s. Coaching is a process aimed at creating an environment of growth and optimization of the potential of the individual in an increasingly complex environment. Through a stimulating partnership , the coaching creates a space for the individual to build upon his skills, to eliminate obstacles to his development, acquire new competences and knowledge, and implement a plan of improvement of his performance. This relation is supported by concepts, methods and tools originating from organization theories as well as from the large psychotherapeutic field.

Executive coaching aims to develop competences of individuals and teams to reach success. This is why it is more and more used  to create a competitive advantage. The rapid growth of the phenomenon raises a number of issues and sometimes outright opposition. The book responds to these interrogations in a pragmatic way: what is the current practice of coaching? How is it assessed ? Who are the coachs ? What kind of tools are they using ? How they comply to a set of ethical rules ? How is a coaching journey conducted ? What is the difference between coaching and therapy or other forms of intervention? etc.

Developing well being in the workplace –
A new response: the EAP

Stress, mental fatigue, burnout, harassment, addictions are some of the difficulties confronting employees in the workplace. In an ever more demanding environment, human resources professionals and managers must face a growing psychosocial risk which represents a considerable cost for organisations and society as a whole.

The book offers a conceptual framework to prevent and act upon processes which create health related issues in organisations. Employee Assistance Programmes (EAP) bring an effective response to these issues. Through a new approach fostering well being in the workplace, this book presents a framework for counselling and coaching which aims at combining caring and performance in a win win philosophy for the benefits of employees and organisations.

The Global Manager

We have been recently witnessing an explosion in demand for a new type of manager able to direct teams belonging to different cultures based in multiple countries: the global manager. Largely illustrated with examples drawn from the author's experience, this work discusses the origins of the phenomenon (delocalizations, verticalisation and externalisation of certain corporate activities , etc.) and the complexity of management on a daily basis . Perfectly bilinguals, these new managers must develop their potential in a moving environment, taking into account the diversity of individual cultural practices. In addition to shedding a light on the research of many authors, this book approaches the various aspects of culture, training and daily management issues: from the shock upon arrival to the shock of returning.

Family psychopathology

50 specialists were brought together for this work whose ambition is to account for the state of knowledge in the field of family psychopathology . The family group is privileged on the clinical and theoretical level, recounting the expansion of therapeutic practices and the result of fifty years of systematic research on family factors contributing to the appearance and the development of mental disorders in the individual. Very diverse disciplines are evoked from the macroscopic level (society phenomenon, exclusion, institutions) to the psychological dynamics of small groups and families.

What kind of help is appropriate for a given problem? How long does a therapy last? How much does it cost? « Comment bien choisir son psy » is a practical guide, illustrated by many testimonies in the search for psychotherapeutic help.

...... The family dimension is almost always present in cases of drug addiction and is nevertheless too often neglected despite the fact that it is a major factor of understanding and treatment of the phenomenon. Work on family interactions allows to recreate a positive dynamic around behaviour and relations which have been poisoned by addiction pathologies.
