METHODOLOGY

....... The Employee Assistance Programme is a scheme which emphasises problem prevention and the search for improving the well-being of the individual in difficulty.

The intervention includes a phase of active listening by the consultant in which the employee talks about the problem and his expectations in relation to the consultation. Objective feedback is provided by the counsellor. A proposal and a choice of remedial actions are then explored together.

The consultation uses a framework borrowed from brief therapy and problem resolution, pragmatically incorporating other theoretical frameworks such as cognitive behavioural therapy, organisational system theory, family therapy, relaxation, interaction and communication techniques and professional coaching.

The approach is strictly voluntary for the employee and governed by complete confidentiality, a prerequisite for the establishment of a trusting and working relationship.

Consultations generally take place face to face or by telephone, and possibly via the internet. Given the importance of acting quickly in some situations, we guarantee to see an employee within 72 hours of his request and on the same day in cases of emergency. Following the initial contact, the employee is directed towards the most appropriate professional counsellor.

If needed, a 24 hours a day, 7 days a week service as well as home visits, can be offered to the employee and the organisation.
